The institute offers regular course on Post Diploma in Industrial Safety. The course is approved by the Directorate of Technical Education and Training, Odisha (DTE & T) and affiliated to State Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (SCTE & VT), Odisha Under Section 40(b) of the factory Act, 1948, Govt. of India authorized the state Govt. to make it mandatory for the industrial units to appoint safety officer to protect the workers from occupational hazards like bodily injuries, poisoning diseases etc. Under this provision and the rules framed by the Directorate General, Factory Advisory Services & Central Labour Institution Officers have to possess formal safety education & Diploma in Industrial Safety. To fulfill the need for such qualified safety officials and to help spread of safety education, the institute offers 1 year post Diploma course in Industrial Safety. The syllabus of the course is based on and is equivalent to Diploma offered by the central labour institute & the Regional Labour Institutes in the country. The institution is concerned with the need for providing education, for the working class and the problem of “Safety & Health” at work.
After completion of the course a student acquired the qualification to get entry into public sector undertaking (PSU), Processing industries as safety Officer /and Safety Engineers, depending on their qualification and experience. A working professional having completed the course acquires promotional opportunity to higher ranks.
This course combines management, law, engineering, occupational health & hygiene. As per the statutory requirement of the government all the industrial houses mandatorily requires department as Safety Officers for each unit of a plant. As such requirement of safety officers has increased to a great extent.
